Do you ever feel like you need a weekend after a weekend?
Then you have to read this:
If your weeks are as busy as mine, having a well-planned, balanced weekend routine is crucial to maintain a balance between work and personal life.
This doesn’t mean you have to compromise or sacrifice fun on the weekends.
After years of trial and error, I’ve developed a weekend routine that truly recharges you and sets you up for a great start to the week ahead.
Here are my 5 DOs and DON’Ts :
DO’s:
- To maintain consistency and energy, I keep my most energizing routines, such as my morning and bedtime routines, during the weekend while being flexible about the activities I include.
- I dedicate one day to going out and having new experiences and one day to staying in with family and myself.
- I follow my diet but allow for some treats, such as increasing my carbs intake, without compromising my results.
- I reserve Sunday late afternoon/evening to prepare for Monday, plan the week ahead, and reset the house. This helps me to wake up on Monday prepared, fresh, and ready to go.
DON’Ts
- I don’t work on the weekends. If I am particularly busy during the week, I prefer to work longer hours during the week,.
- I also avoid any work-related planning on the weekends. I do my work to-do list on Friday evening when I am wrapping up.
- I avoid doing any chores, cleaning, or laundry on the weekends. I do it on Monday and Thursday evenings instead.
- I don’t do meal prep on the weekends either. I plan my meals as part of my weekly planning but I do the actual meal prep on Monday afternoon because on Monday, I always have leftovers from the weekend or I fast, so I only need my meals as of Tuesday.
- I avoid being overbooked on the weekends, as it leads to more planning, preparations, and tiredness, especially with my 4-year-old. Instead, I plan extra family/friends activities on Wednesday afternoon to spread them out and break up the workweek.
